The Management of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, has appointed Engr. Lawson Olorunwa Sunday as the new Director for Works and Maintenance Services.
The letter of appointment which was signed by the Ag. Registrar, Mr. Sule Atiku indicates that the appointment takes immediate effect.
Until his appointment, Engr. Lawson who joined the service of the Institution in 2001 is a Chief Lecturer in the Department of Agricultural and Bio-environmental Engineering with an experience spanning 17 years, he had served the Institution in many capacities as Head of Department of Agricultural Engineering Technology between 2007 and 2009; Director of Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) Unit between 2011 and 2017 and as Chairman and a member of many Institutional Committees.
The new Director who hails from Ajagba in Irele Local Government of Ondo State holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Engineering from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife in 1990. He bagged Masters of Engineering in Agricultural Engineering from the Federal University of Technology, Akure in 1999. He also bagged a Diploma in Water and Crop Management from the Galilee International Management Institute, Israel in 2013. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Agricultural Engineering at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta.
Engr. Lawson is a registered Engineer, a member of many professional bodies including: the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), American Society of Agricultural & Biological Engineers (ASABE), Nigeria Society of Engineers (NSE), Nigeria Institute of Agricultural Engineering (NIAE) among others.
Engr. Lawson is a researcher and writer of note. He has about 23 scholarly papers published in local and international journals and at conferences.
He is happily married with children.
