As part of numerous efforts being made by Management to ensure a successful hosting of the Nigeria Polytechnic Games (NIPOGA) in 2020 to mark the 40 years existence of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, the Acting Rector, Mr. Gani Ogundahunsi has inaugurated the Local organizing Committee (LOC) and saddled members with the task of organizing the event.
The Acting Rector while inaugurating the 11-man Committee mandated its members to make recommendations on how the Institution can successfully organize the 21st edition of the sport fiesta.
He also charged the Committee to work with the aim that the most important thing is not about just hosting but about hosting well. He further said they should use the event to reposition and promote the good image of the Institution to the world.
Mr. Ogundahunsi prayed to God to help the Committee to achieve the huge but surmountable task before them saying I am not expecting anything than the very best.
Responding on behalf of the Committee members, the Chairman of the Committee, Engr. (Dr) Samuel Alagha thanked the Management for the privilege to serve in this capacity and for the cream of people he appointed into Local Organizing Committee.
He promised not to let the Management down, saying he would use the experience garnered in many years of attending NIPOGA as Coach; and participant to ensure that the Committee does not fail in the onerous task to organized the sport fiesta successfully to the glory of God and benefit of mankind.
The Committee is composed of Engr. (Dr) Samuel Alagha (Deputy Rector) as Chairman; Engr. Olorunwa Lawson (Director, Works & Maintenance Services); Dr. Ademola Obanoyen (Director, Health Services); Surv. Lanre Ogunmodede (Chairman, Sport Advisory Committee); Mr. Olugbenga Oloye (Director, Student Affairs); Mr. Yemi Suleeman (Director, Public Relations & Protocol); Mr. Ajibade Oriade (Deputy Bursar); Mr. Bayode Rufai (Chief Coach); Mr. Joseph Ilugbami (Admin Assistant to the Rector) and Mr. Salami Idowu (Chief Security Officer) as members while Dr. Ademola Adeyefa (Ag. Director, Council Affairs) will serve as Secretary.
