The Governing Council of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, has approved the appointment of Dr. (Engr) Samuel Alagha, a chief lecturer in the department of Agricultural and Bio-Environmental Engineering Technology as the new Deputy Rector (Admin) of the Institution. Dr. Alagha who hails from Iyere, in Owo Local Government Area, holds a BSc and MSc in Agricultural Engineering and obtained Ph.D in Soil and Water Conservation Engineering from the Nigeria’s Premier University, the University of Ibadan. He started his teaching career in 1994 at Oludaye Grammar School, Oba Akoko and later joined the service of the Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo in 1995 as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Agricultural and Bio-Environmental Engineering Technology of the Institution and rose to the rank of Chief Lecturer in 2013. Before he was elected Deputy Rector in 2017, Dr. Alagha has served the Polytechnic in many capacities, as a member of many Committees, former Chairman of Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, past President of the Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo Alumni Association and Head of Department, Agricultural and Bio-Environmental Engineering. He is a registered Engineer with COREN, a member of the Nigerian Institute of Agricultural Engineers (MNAIE), Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), American Society of Agricultural and Bio-Engineer and the Nigerian Referee Association. He has published above 30 papers in both international and local journals; he has several conference papers to his credit and has also attended more than eight conferences both locally and internationally. He is married to Deaconness Kehinde Christianah Alagha and the marriage is blessed with God fearing children.
